Connecting students, building community, and supporting academic success are core tenets of Beach XP, but each college offers their students a unique journey!

Who is eligible?
College of the Arts offers Beach XP learning communities to first time, first year students enrolled in the following departments:
- Cinematic Arts
- Theater
- Dance
What are the benefits of joining COTA Beach XP?
While each cohort may have some unique program features, all will incorporate the following benefits:
- Classes with peers in your major
- Mentorship
- Peer mentoring
- Peer connection
- Help navigating campus resources
- Connections to campus services

If you are in one of the following majors, you will be automatically enrolled into a Beach XP learning community:
- Cinematic Arts

Who is eligible?
All first time, first year College of Business students are eligible to join the College of Business' Beach XP.
What are the benefits of joining COB Beach XP?
Students enrolled in a COB Beach XP cohort can look forward to the following perks:
- Tutoring and learning support
- Review sessions
- Peer advisors
- Designated Academic Advisor
- Activities that facilitate bonding and self-sufficient skills to be successful in undergrad
- Opportunities to connect with Faculty
- Guest speakers from each major option, including study abroad
- Help navigating the Student Center for Professional Development
- First Time, First Year Mandatory Advising
- Connections to the Associated Business Students Organizations Council and other COB clubs and organizations

Who is eligible?
First time, first year students are eligible to join College of Education’s Beach XP learning community. Criteria for joining are based on English and Math placement components. Students who are commuters to campus, have no college credit or are first generation are encouraged to apply.
What are the benefits of CED Beach XP?
Students enrolled in CED Beach XP can look forward to the following perks:
- A dedicated Beach XP advisor
- Community of practice
- Community building activities
- Classes with peers in your major
- Academic Advising
- Academic & informational presentations from various campus departments at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ

The College of Engineering has hosted a learning community program for the last decade. Now, COE will expand its Beach Engineering Student Success Team (BESST) with its participation in Beach XP.
Who is eligible?
Criteria for joining Beach XP are based on Math placement components, as well as the student’s major for some communities.
What are the benefits of joining BESST/Beach XP?
Students who join can look forward to the following perks:
- Dedicated BESST/BeachXP Academic Advisor
- Opportunities to form friendships
- Chance to connect with BESST alumni, faculty and staff

The College of Liberal Arts has helped students jump-start their experience at аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ through Learning Communities for more than 30 years. Beach XP provides an opportunity for CLA students to connect with the campus, peers, faculty, and advisors. 
Who is eligible?
CLA Beach XP is available to first-time, first-year College of Liberal Arts majors. More information about eligibility and course options will be provided during your summer advising process. If you have any questions, please contact atlas@csulb.edu.
What are the benefits of joining CLA Beach XP?
Students who join CLA Beach XP can look forward to the following perks: 
- Enrollment in C/LA 195, a 1-unit seminar course designed to support you through your transition into аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ
- Opportunities to connect with your first-year CLA community through social activities, lunches, etc.
- Access to academic support, tutoring, and resources
- Introduction to campus services and involvement opportunities
- Personal connection with your Academic Advising team and completion of mandatory advising

Criteria for joining Science and Math Beach XP are based on Math and Chemistry placement.
What are the benefits of joining Science and Math Beach XP?
Joining Science and Math Beach XP means you have access to a host of perks, including the following:
- Enhance Academic Skills: Tailored to enhance and explore additional academic skill sets.
- Reserved Courses: Reserved courses for the first academic year.
- Study Groups: Get the opportunity to collaborate and study with same-major peers.
- Inclusive Success Workshops: Gain academic and career developing strategies for academic success and readiness.
- Early Research Opportunities: Get early information about research opportunities and internships.
- Peer Networking: Build friendships and professional networks with students and staff.
- Tutoring Support: Work with upperclass peer mentors/tutors experienced in Mathematics and the Sciences.
- Mentorship Program: One-on-one guided support from experienced upperclassmen (on a case-by-case basis).

Who is eligible?
The University Center for Undergraduate Advising (UCUA) offers Beach XP for students who are exploring careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Additionally, students who are exploring career fields in healthcare, such as nursing, are eligible for Beach XP with UCUA.
What are the benefits of joining Beach XP for Exploration?
- Enrollment in a specialized section of COUN 191: Career and Personal Exploration
- Smaller class sizes and personalized contact with instructors
- Various social activities will be offered inside and outside of the classroom.
- Tutoring and mentorship opportunities
- Dedicated support with connections to career services, academic advisors, financial aid counseling, and more!

Indicate your interest
You can indicate your interest in joining Beach XP when you complete the First-Time/First-Year survey in late May. Your UCUA academic advisor will provide additional details when you meet with them for academic advising and course registration during SOAR.
