Schools

The School works to investigate, understand, and solve social problems related to crime and criminal behavior. We offer a bachelor's degree, two options for a master鈥檚 degree in criminal justice and criminology, an online master鈥檚 degree in Emergency Services Administration, minors in criminology/criminal justice and forensic studies, and one certificate program.

The School of Nursing offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees that are accredited nationally as well as by the CA Board of Registered Nursing.  Our highly sought after BSN program produces graduates who routinely pass the NCLEX exam on the first try.  Our graduate program offers an MSN degree in combination with various NP specialties, Public Health Nursing, or Executive Management, preparing graduates to be culturally competent healthcare providers and nurse leaders.

The 新澳门六合彩资料 School of Social Work鈥檚 Vision is to be California鈥檚 most innovative and student-centered School of Social Work; a place where academic excellence, ethics, diversity and the pursuit of social justice are embraced by faculty and students to enhance the lives of vulnerable and oppressed populations. We offer both undergraduate (BASW) and graduate (MSW) Degree programs. 

Departments

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is the largest academic unit of its kind west of the Mississippi, and the largest department on campus. Our multi-accredited department has over 2,100 majors and minors pursuing one of eight options in three baccalaureate degrees, three master鈥檚 degrees, and one certificate program.  We serve the community through our Center for Successful Aging, the Child and Family Center, the Internship Program in Nutrition and Dietetics (IPND), and the Individualized Supervised-Practice Pathway (ISPP).

The Department of Health Care Administration is one of just nine programs in the United States that offer both accredited undergraduate (via AUPHA) and graduate (via CAHME) HCA degrees. Taught by both academic scholars and Southern California-health care executives, HCA courses are an interdisciplinary educational experience, combining business administration and the health sciences into one comprehensive degree, equipping our students with the effective management skills and sound leadership practices required to excel in the health care field.

The Department of Health Science offers two bachelors options, a Master of Public Health graduate degree, and a minor program. The mission of the Health Science Department and its undergraduate and graduate programs are to aid and encourage students' development into competent professionals and life-long learners who are responsible for community health/public health disciplines, including health education and related areas. Students who major in Health Science may choose to pursue careers in teaching, program planning, or administration in a wide variety of settings.

The Department of Kinesiology offers programs of study for students wishing to prepare for professional careers in physical education teaching (Adapted and K-12) or related disciplines (Athletic Training Education Program, Exercise Science, Fitness, Sport Psychology and Leadership, and the Graduate Program in Sport Management). The Department also serves the needs of students completing majors in other fields who find that certain aspects of Kinesiology are important to their professional objectives and personal interests.

The Department of Physical Therapy has a long tradition of achieving our mission of preparing entry-level physical therapists who are highly valued professionals with exemplary skills, who add to the body of physical therapy knowledge, and who serve the community. The Doctor of Physical Therapy program admits small cohorts of 32-36 students yearly, and has a high quality faculty devoted to providing personal attention to each student. We have state-of-the art equipment available for learning in laboratories and use in doctoral research projects. 

The Graduate Center for Public Policy and Administration offers a NASPAA-accredited MPA degree that is designed to prepare students to lead and manage productively in public and nonprofit organizations. Our graduates have gone on to successful careers in government, nonprofit organizations, and academia. In addition to the general MPA degree, the Center also provides options in urban affairs and public works administration along with certificate programs in employee-employer relations, public financial management, and public management analysis. Courses are provided in traditional on-campus, online, hybrid, and weekend formats to afford maximum flexibility to students.

The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies offers the only academic program accredited by COPART in Southern California. We offer a Bachelor鈥檚 and a Master鈥檚 program, as well as two minors and five concentrations. Alumni from our program work in diverse careers that benefit individuals and communities. These include careers in public recreation and parks, recreation therapy, outdoor and environmental education, community services, community events and festivals, youth and adult services, campus recreation services, camp administration, travel and tourism, and commercial recreation.

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology provides effective, state-of-the-art instruction and clinical and educational practice in speech-language pathology.  Fully accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and by the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), students graduating from the Master鈥檚 program comply with standards for CTC, ASHA, and the state to practice speech-language pathology.  We serve the community through our Speech and Language Clinic by providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for children and adults who exhibit communicative disorders.
