鈥淚鈥檓 so excited to be here,鈥 Dr. Williams said.

It was 10 years ago in March when Dr. Williams attended a nation-wide gathering of deans and directors in Washington D.C. when he first met Dr. Lucy Huckabay.

Dr. Williams began telling the crowd the story of that fortuitous day.

鈥淚 jokingly said to [Huckabay], 鈥榣et me know when you retire 鈥 I love California.鈥

Added Dr. Williams, 鈥淚 never expected for this to happen, so I am very grateful and privileged, and looking forward to learning as much as I can.鈥

Appealing to everyone in attendance, Dr. Williams closed by saying, 鈥淚 want to listen to all of you; 鈥榯here鈥檚 plenty of time and each moment counts,鈥 as I like to say, and that鈥檚 how I want you to feel about me being here. My door is always open.鈥
