Beach Pledge Program
California State University, Long Beach (аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ) has long been committed to providing entering first-time students the tools and support to graduate in a timely manner. The California Promise Program (Senate Bill 412) enables аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ to establish the Beach Pledge Program which provides an opportunity for entering first-time students who are both interested and able to complete their baccalaureate degrees in four years. In addition, students who have been accepted in a Fall Semester with an Associate Degree for Transfer (AD-T) [in accordance with SB 1440 – The Student Transfer Achievement Reform (STAR) Act] from a sister California Community College, may complete their baccalaureate degrees in two years. This program is also limited to students who are residents of California.
All Beach Pledge Program (California Promise) students will receive:
- Priority Registration (Given by Class Standing in this order: Beach Pledge Seniors, Remaining Seniors, Beach Pledge Juniors, Remaining Juniors, Beach Pledge Sophomores, Remaining Sophomores, Beach Pledge First-Time First Years, Remaining First-Time First Years)
- Guaranteed Course Availability (Students should not waitlist courses)
- Specialized Advising Each Semester to Ensure Students Stay on Track with a Personalized Academic Plan
Participating students must pursue an eligible major in one of our seven (7) colleges (from the eligible majors found in Admitted year link), and meet one of the following requirements: (1) Admitted directly to eligible pre-major/major OR (2) Admitted undeclared and is not pursuing an ineligible pre-major/major.
**Note: Student may not change to an eligible major outside of their original college.
***Note: Students switching to Undeclared may deem themselves ineligible for the Beach Pledge program.
Participating students must pursue an eligible major in one of our seven (7) colleges (from the eligible majors found in Admitted year link), and meet the following requirements: (1) Admitted directly to eligible major and (2) Does not deviate from their major and/or add a double major or minor.
**Note: Student may not change to an eligible major outside of their original college.
