°ϲ in top 3% in Money’s 2022 Best Colleges list
Cal State Long Beach is in the top 3% out of the 623 institutions assessed in ‘Money’ magazine’s list of the , ranking No. 18 overall.
The publication evaluated institutions in three categories: quality of education, affordability, and student outcomes. These categories were further expanded into 24 data points such as graduation rates, alumni financial success, net price of a degree, ability to repay loans, economic mobility, and earnings 10 years after college entry.
The Beach’s graduation rate (78%) is about 18% higher than expected when compared to colleges that admit similar students according to “Money,” which considers °ϲ “one of the best bargains in higher education.”

This new ranking adds to a growing list of the University’s numerous points of distinction:
In a Georgetown University study, °ϲ was ranked in the top 10% of schools for return on investment out of 4,500 institutions.
And The Beach has been recognized as a top university in empowering students on the path towards economic mobility, having recently ranked No. 3 nationally in CollegeNET’s social mobility index and No. 1 ‘Best Bang for the Buck’ university in the West by Washington Monthly.
