Learn about Econ 333 and 340

Our department now offers Econ 333 Managerial Economics and Econ 340 Economics in Movies. Last year we asked students what courses they would like to see return to the schedule, Economics in Movies won by a landslide. 

Our department brought back Managerial Economics as an alternative for Econ 310 for Business Economics majors. This course is based on the real-world application of managerial analysis for decision-making and planning. 

Econ 333 will be offered in the Fall with Dr. Ahmad Saboori and Econ 340 will be offered in the Spring with Dr. Steve Yamarik. 

ECON 333 - Managerial Economics

2024 Fall Semester (3 units)

Prerequisite(s): , , and one of , , or .
The tools of marginal analysis and their application to managerial decisions and planning. Emphasis upon calculating solutions to operational problems. Topics include demand analysis, production and cost, pricing, and output decisions. Product and factor markets will be analyzed.

ECON 340 - Economics in Movies

2025 Spring Semester (3 units)

Prerequisites:  or
Application of economic concepts to real-world situations as depicted in movies. Economic analyses of incentives, trade-offs, supply and demand, insurance, the used car market, crime, pollution, etc.
